Former Head of Tatev Wanted by Law Enforcement Transferred Handcuffed from Airport to Goris Prison
Former head of the Tatev community in the Syunik Province of Armenia, Murad Simonyan, has been transferred to Armenia from a Moscow-Yerevan flight, and he was taken from the Zvartnots Airport to the Goris penitentiary facility. This information was reported by shamshyan.com.
Simonyan faces several criminal charges, which led to his being wanted by law enforcement.
“Yesterday, Murad Simonyan, who arrived in Armenia on a Moscow-Yerevan flight, was transferred handcuffed to the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia, from where he was handed over to the officers of the Goris division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. After all necessary procedures, Simonyan was taken to the Goris penitentiary as the court decided to choose detention as a measure of restraint,” the report states.
Simonyan is wanted under multiple articles of the former Criminal Code of Armenia, including Article 179, Part 2, Clause 1 (misappropriation or waste), Article 179, Part 2, Clause 3 (the same act committed on a large scale), Article 308, Part 1 (abuse of official powers), and Article 308, Part 2 (the same act that negligently caused severe consequences).
