Photos: Strong Winds in Western Georgia Down Trees and Tear Off Roofs
Severe weather has been wreaking havoc in western Georgia, causing damage to around 500 homes in the Imereti region. Power outages have affected 135 villages, and a main gas pipeline towards Tsqaltubo has also been damaged. The winds have uprooted trees, which have damaged dozens of vehicles. Thousands of subscribers in Kutaisi are left without water supply. This is the sixth day of bad weather in western Georgia, according to Sputnik Georgia.
In the Guria region, more than 100 roofs of houses have been damaged, and around 50 trees have been downed. Power lines and gas pipelines have been disrupted. Churches and school buildings have also suffered damage.
In the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region, roofs of more than 600 private homes, 36 buildings, schools, kindergartens, outpatient clinics, and administrative buildings have been affected.
