Armenia Seeks to Purchase MRSAM Air Defense Systems from India

Armenia is considering the purchase of Indian MRSAM medium-range air defense systems. This information has been reported by the local IDRW portal, noting that Yerevan aims to replace its Soviet-era Pechora S-125 air defense systems.

According to the source, the Armenian side had previously submitted a request for the purchase of these systems, while India proposed the Akash and Akash-NG systems, which are also domestically produced. The interesting aspect is that although MRSAM systems are manufactured in India, some technologies are borrowed from Israel.

Meanwhile, the publication mentions that New Delhi has no restrictions on the export of these armaments. This transaction would be significant considering that Armenia's main adversary, Azerbaijan, also heavily relies on Israeli supplies, particularly the Barak-8 air defense systems in its arsenal.

It is noteworthy that last year Indian sources reported several times on major military-technical transactions between Yerevan and New Delhi.
