Provocative Statements Will Continue: Russia on Aliyev's Remarks
There have been many provocative statements, and there will be more. This is how Maria Zakharova, the official spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, commented on the recent remarks made by Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev.
During a recent press conference, Aliyev stated that if Armenia does not wish to carry out border demarcation, then the border will be drawn as Azerbaijan sees fit, as reported by eadaily.com.
"Such individuals and their statements will not be few. There have been many of them and will continue to be. You know how many forces are involved, how many interests collide, and how many parties are fighting. You know this well; they also know it in the region. That is why there will be many statements," said the diplomat.
A journalist asked Zakharova whether Aliyev's threats are a consequence of the lack of a clear political assessment from Armenia's allies in the CSTO regarding Azerbaijan's aggression in September. In response, Zakharova noted that there have been many clear reactions from Moscow. In this regard, the Russian side would like to understand the Armenian side's "clear response" to very fundamental issues. According to Zakharova, this is where the discussion should begin.
"There has been a response from the CSTO. I cannot name it vague. Even if it does not align with the views of several political figures involved in the negotiations, this does not mean it is a vague response. There are agreements between the parties, and an action plan has been outlined. Moving away from these is not acceptable," emphasized the Russian Foreign Ministry representative.
