OSCE Chairman to Make Separate Visits to Armenia and Azerbaijan
On January 10, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan had a phone conversation with the OSCE Chairman-in-Office and North Macedonia's Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani.
Minister Mirzoyan drew the interlocutor's attention to the humanitarian crisis resulting from Azerbaijan's blockade of the Lachin corridor. He emphasized the need for specific actions from relevant regional and international organizations, including the OSCE, in the context of preventing a humanitarian disaster in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Bujar Osmani, the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, stated that he is closely monitoring the situation around the Lachin corridor and expressed concern about its impact on the daily lives of the civilian population. He noted that the resolution of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the steps to build trust between the countries are key elements in overcoming existing issues that people are facing “on the ground.”
In this context, the OSCE Chairman reaffirmed his readiness to personally engage in efforts to ease tensions and achieve lasting peace. He indicated that separate visits will be made to Armenia and Azerbaijan.
