Aliyev Demands Apology from France
The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, holds the current French government responsible for the deterioration of relations between Baku and Paris. He stated, “I hope that in the future, a government will form in France that will appreciate relations with Azerbaijan, as we have always cooperated with them with only friendly intentions.”
Speaking about Azerbaijani-French relations during the Second Nagorno-Karabakh War in 2020, the Azerbaijani president noted that they were strained. “Recently, in one of the closed meetings, I said that France can live without us, and we can live without France, but that is their path, their choice. During the war, we had, as they say, very tense relations. France openly accused us, slandered us, and now I demand an apology from them,” said Ilham Aliyev.
