Azerbaijan Must Restore the Regime of the Berdzor Corridor as Stipulated in the November Trilateral Statement – Mirzoyan
On January 10, Armenia's Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan had a phone conversation with Karen Donfried, the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports this.
During the conversation, Mirzoyan presented to his interlocutor the deteriorating humanitarian situation resulting from Azerbaijan's blockade of the only road connecting Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia and the outside world, known as the Lachin Corridor, since December 12, 2022. It was emphasized that Azerbaijan's actions constitute a gross violation of the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020.
The Armenian side noted that the Azerbaijani claims of environmental justifications for blocking the Lachin Corridor are false. Minister Mirzoyan stressed that Azerbaijan is obligated to restore the Lachin Corridor regime, as stipulated in the November trilateral statement, without any preconditions.
The Armenian Foreign Minister also presented the latest developments in the process of normalizing relations between Armenia and Turkey.
