The Armenia Fund to Provide Urgent Support of $500,000 to Artsakh

On December 27, an extraordinary meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Armenia Fund was held to discuss the humanitarian support for Artsakh in light of the blockade of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan. The meeting was chaired by the President of Armenia and the Chair of the Armenia Fund Board of Trustees, Vahagn Khachaturyan.

Participating via video conference were 20 members of the Board of Trustees, as well as representatives of the Fund’s local bodies. During the meeting, the President of Artsakh, Araik Harutyunyan, and State Minister Ruben Vardanyan presented the humanitarian crisis created in Artsakh and the urgent needs of the Armenian population there, as well as ways to address these issues.

Participants discussed the current situation, emphasizing the necessity of a pan-Armenian unification to provide humanitarian assistance to Artsakh. Urgent humanitarian aid options and methods were proposed, including organizing fundraising campaigns in various formats, redirecting ongoing programs in Artsakh, and the need for the Fund to appeal to international organizations.

All entities on the Board of Trustees were encouraged to engage actively in directing their community resources towards overcoming the humanitarian crisis in Artsakh, as well as ensuring the long-term sustainable development of the region.

The local body from the USA expressed its readiness to immediately provide $500,000 as humanitarian assistance to Artsakh in the form of essential supplies.

From 2021 to 2022, the Fund has already implemented various humanitarian programs in Artsakh worth more than 32 billion AMD aimed at post-war rehabilitation efforts. Hundreds of apartments and houses have been built and put into operation, over 52 km of various strategic roads have been constructed, and drinking water networks have been established in several communities, alongside funding dozens of important projects in healthcare, education, culture, and other fields.
