Record Number of Chinese Military Aircraft Cross Unofficial Line with Taiwan

The Taiwanese Ministry of Defense has reported that from 6 AM on December 25 to 6 AM on December 26, 47 Chinese aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait, which serves as an unofficial boundary between the two sides.

The Chinese formation included 18 J-16 fighter jets, 11 J-1 fighters, 6 Su-30 fighters, and drones. China continues its military activity near the island, with movements being monitored through ground missile systems and vessels.

A Reuters source revealed that during exercises, China dispatched military aircraft from several locations to simulate attacks on Taiwanese and U.S. naval vessels.

Taiwan's President Tsai Ing-wen will convene a high-level national security consultation on the morning of December 27 to discuss enhancing the island's civil defense capabilities. This will be followed by a press conference to announce new defensive measures.

“The more we prepare, the less chance there is for unprovoked acts of aggression. The more united we are, the stronger and safer Taiwan will become,” said Tsai Ing-wen.
