Why the Mirzoyan-Lavrov-Bayramov Meeting Will Not Take Place: Armenian Foreign Ministry Explains

On December 23, a meeting between the foreign ministers of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan was planned in Moscow. However, the Armenian side has requested to postpone the meeting as the current priority for Armenia's Minister of Foreign Affairs is to address the smooth reoperation of the Lachin Corridor and the issues arising from the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh.

This was stated by the spokesperson of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, Vahan Hunanian, in response to a question from Armenpress.

Question - Are the reports correct that within the framework of peace treaty negotiations, a meeting between the foreign ministers of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan was planned to take place in Moscow on December 23, which will not occur?

Response - The Armenian side had confirmed its readiness to participate in the Moscow meeting about two weeks ago, prior to the illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan. It is evident that the working priority of Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan at this time is to address the smooth reoperation of the Lachin Corridor, in accordance with the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, and the issues arising from the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh. Based on this, the Armenian side has requested to postpone the planned meeting in Moscow.

At the same time, we inform that as a sign of the Armenian side's constructiveness in the process of normalizing relations with Azerbaijan, regardless of the circumstances of the meeting, new proposals from the Armenian side regarding the normalization of relations have been communicated to Azerbaijan.
