What Is Russia's Objective? Putin on Maidan and the United States
The goal of Russia is not to escalate the military conflict, but rather to put an end to it. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin on December 22.
"It started back in 2014, after the state coup incited by the same States, when pastries were handed out in Maidan," he said.
According to the head of state, Moscow will strive to ensure that the conflict comes to an end, and the sooner, the better.
"Well, what is happening and how, I have already said many times. The activation of military operations leads to unjustified losses..." the Russian leader added.
Responding to a journalist's comment that Putin speaks cautiously about the situation in the special military operation zone, the head of state admitted that perhaps this really is the case.
"But the Ministry of Defense has daily briefings, where they report to our public, to the country, what is happening, where it is happening, how, and so on," the president emphasized.
