Peskov on the Situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and the Actions of Peacekeepers
Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh are doing everything possible to ensure peace and order. They operate in accordance with the spirit and letter of the agreements. This was stated by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation.
It is noteworthy that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan mentioned during a government meeting today that the provisions of the tripartite statement from 2020, regarding the Lachin corridor being under the control of Russian peacekeepers, are not being implemented.
“We will certainly continue discussing this topic with our Armenian partners and allies,” Peskov emphasized.
Recall that on the morning of December 12, a group of Azerbaijanis in civilian clothes blocked the Stepanakert-Goris highway connecting Artsakh to Armenia under the pretext of environmental concerns at the intersection near Shushi-Karin Tak.
From December 13, the Azerbaijani side also cut off gas supplies to Artsakh. On the morning of December 16, Ruben Vardanyan, the State Minister of Artsakh, announced that gas supplies to Artsakh had been restored without any preconditions. However, the Lachin corridor remains closed.
