European Court Grants Armenia's Request and Imposes Interim Measures Against Azerbaijan

Earlier today, the European Court granted Armenia's request and imposed interim measures against Azerbaijan. The Office of the Representative of Armenia on International Legal Matters has announced that more details will be provided shortly.

It is reminded that on December 14, it became known that Armenia, in accordance with the regulations of the International Court of Justice, sent a letter informing about the blockade of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan and the resulting violations of the rights of the residents of Artsakh. Armenia also appealed to the European Court of Human Rights, demanding the application of interim measures against Azerbaijan and obliging it to unblock the Lachin corridor.

The European Court decided to give Azerbaijan until Monday, December 19, at 4 PM (French time) to respond to Armenia's request, after which the Court will issue a final decision.

On the morning of December 12, a group of Azerbaijanis in civilian clothes closed the Stepanakert-Goris highway, connecting Artsakh to Armenia, under the pretext of environmental reasons at the intersection near Shushi-Karin Tak. Since December 13, the Azerbaijani side has also cut off the gas supply to Artsakh. On the morning of December 16, the state minister of Artsakh, Ruben Vardanyan, announced that gas supply to Artsakh has been restored, and it was done without any preconditions. However, the Lachin corridor remains closed.
