Elderly Woman Accidentally Disposes of $70,000 in Davtashen Trash Bin

A remarkable incident occurred recently in Yerevan: a 70-year-old grandmother called the police to report that she mistakenly threw $70,000 away in one of the trash bins in the Davtashen administrative district.

The woman clearly indicated to the law enforcement officers the exact street and location where she disposed of the trash. This was reported by ArmLur.am.

Authorities took her call seriously and visited her home to talk with her. However, they approached her claim with skepticism while still pursuing her report.

Later, they inspected the trash bin in Davtashen and found no money. Some time after that, they checked the surveillance cameras located in the area of the bin. During the review of the footage, police noticed a man approaching the bin, searching for food and clothing, and subsequently taking a bag from the trash before leaving.

The woman who contacted the police informed investigators that her $70,000 was in that very bag. As a result, police located the man and discovered the $70,000 in his residence.

It remains to be seen how the 70-year-old grandmother came into possession of such a sum, a matter that law enforcement may clarify.
