Switzerland Expands Sanctions Against Russia
The authorities of Switzerland, following the European Union countries, have decided to expand the sanctions against Russia. Now, 141 individuals and 49 companies from the Russian Federation have been added to the sanctions list in connection with the situation in Ukraine. This was stated in a declaration from the country’s Federal Department of Economic Affairs.
"On December 21, 2022, the federal office responsible for sanctions expanded the list of sanctions against Russia. Switzerland adopts the changes that the EU has decided to make concerning the alarming situation in Ukraine," the document notes.
It is known that the restrictions came into force at 18:00 (21:00 Yerevan time).
Switzerland also supported the EU sanctions against four individuals and four companies from Iran, which were imposed due to their military support to Russia and the supply of drones to Russia. Earlier, Dmitry Polyansky, the Deputy Representative of Russia at the UN, stated that Western claims of Iran supplying drones to Russia were misinformation and an unclear pretext for applying pressure on both Russia and Iran.
