Video: A Happy Complaint - Alen Simonyan

The President of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, asserts that the Civil Contract party is fully committed to combatting gambling. He indicated that the government will continue to take steps in this direction, but emphasized the importance of citizens understanding that this path will not lead to any good.

Simonyan made these statements during a special session of the National Assembly while discussing a draft law that stipulates that no television or radio stations can be named after representatives of the gambling business in Armenia.

"The Civil Contract party is fulfilling its commitment to its voters until the end," said the NA President. He outlined the measures the government has implemented to combat gambling. For instance, the National Assembly has restricted advertisements related to gambling in public spaces and banned such advertisements on television and websites.

"The National Assembly will even vote today to prevent hidden advertisements in the names of radio and television stations. After the conclusion of the football championship, many citizens are 'complaining' that it’s very difficult to place bets, which is a happy complaint," Simonyan stated. He expressed gratitude to the parliament members who have worked on addressing this issue.

"I believe we have done and will continue to do everything we can. It remains for our citizens to understand that this path will not lead to any good and to treat themselves, their families, and their earned money more carefully and responsibly," concluded the NA President.
