PHOTOS: How a Dog Saved a Fisherman's Life
In Yakutia, a dog was instrumental in rescuing an injured fisherman in a timely manner. The Republican Rescue Service reported that on December 20, a call was received about a dog tied to a sled running along the banks of the Kolyma River and exhibiting signs of distress. Rescuers arriving at the scene discovered a sled with fishing gear, but the owner was missing.
After following the dog’s tracks for 400 meters, they were able to find the fisherman.
"The man apparently went fishing and fell while digging a hole, injuring his right side; there were also signs of a stroke. Rescuers from the Kolyma search and rescue team evacuated him from the bank and handed him over to doctors," the ministry reported.
