Azerbaijan Files Interstate Complaint to ECHR: Tatevik Hayrapetyan

Azerbaijan has filed a new interstate complaint with the European Court of Human Rights, Azerbaijani media reports. It is noted that the complaint presents facts regarding the destruction of hundreds of Azerbaijani objects in Lachin, Agavno (Zabukh), and Sus (Sus) from May to August of this year, holding Armenia responsible.

On her Telegram page, Azerbaijani studies expert and former Armenian Parliament member Tatevik Hayrapetyan commented on the issue: “This claim reminded me of a speech by Aliyev in August of this year, where he spoke about the Armenians living in Sus and Agavno, saying: ‘...They are war criminals; they better leave of their own accord. We don’t care where they go.’

This statement is one of many speeches that prove the Azerbaijani side's promises and assurances to the international community that the Armenian population can live peacefully in Artsakh are complete lies. On the contrary, if Azerbaijani control over Artsakh is suddenly established, the people will soon face the fate of the Armenians of Hadrut, Shushi, Sus, and Agavno.

For Aliyev, labeling Armenians as ‘war criminals’ is a common occurrence. It is important to emphasize, along with humanitarian issues, that the right of the Artsakh people to self-determination is non-negotiable. Azerbaijan cannot ensure the safety of Armenians, as it is itself the primary threat to the physical existence of the Armenians of Artsakh. We do not lack facts to prove this. The blockade of Artsakh has continued for nine days now, and solutions are still not in sight...”
