Young Man from Gukasar Bought ‘iPhone Pro 14’ with Counterfeit Banknotes
The Police of the Republic of Armenia reports that a young man who made purchases with counterfeit 100-dollar bills has been arrested.
According to a statement released, officers from the Arabkir division of the police, acting on operational information, discovered and arrested a 20-year-old man on December 16 on Komitas Avenue under suspicion of producing, selling, and possessing counterfeit banknotes. During a personal search, 19 counterfeit 100-dollar bills, 2 counterfeit 20,000-dram bills, and 2 counterfeit 1,000-dram bills were found in his possession. The young man and the counterfeit banknotes were presented to the investigative department of Arabkir. Criminal proceedings have been initiated.
On December 17 at 01:00, a citizen who reported to the Arabkir police stated that he had posted an advertisement on the “List.am” website for selling his two iPhones. On December 12, he met a stranger who, exploiting his trust, paid him 3,000 dollars in counterfeit banknotes for the phones. It turned out that this act was committed by the same 20-year-old man who was detained on December 16.
On December 18 at 02:00, a resident of the village of Gukasavan reported to the Masis police. He had posted an advertisement on the “List.am” website to sell an “iPhone Pro 14”. On December 16, a young man called him with the intention of purchasing the phone. They met, and after paying 1,400 dollars, the young man bought the phone, later realizing that the 14 100-dollar bills he received were counterfeit.
As a result of the operational measures taken, it was determined that the same act was committed by the 20-year-old man who was apprehended by the police in Arabkir on December 16. Criminal proceedings have been initiated in the Arabkir investigative department, and the 20-year-old has been arrested.
