Our Citizens Are Essentially Under Blockade: Metakse Hakhobyan on the Situation on the Highway
Azerbaijanis blocking the Stepanakert-Goris highway resembles a humanitarian disaster. Citizens who have urgent needs to either enter Artsakh or travel to Armenia are unable to do so. This was stated by Metakse Hakhobyan, a member of the Artsakh National Assembly from the 'Justice' faction, in an interview with News.
She noted, 'We also have issues with transporting patients. From their words, we understand that they have come for the long term; there are more than 70 military personnel in civilian clothes. The leader of our party and the co-chair of our faction have been trying for over an hour to cross the section where our citizens are, who are essentially under blockade.'
According to Metakse Hakhobyan, the authorities in Artsakh have not taken any steps regarding this incident. 'The authorities of Armenia should also intervene in this situation because Azerbaijan's actions are leading to the annulment of the trilateral statement of November 9. This is a situation that requires a political solution, and actions should be taken by the authorities of Armenia.'
Earlier, the Artsakh information headquarters reported that a group of Azerbaijanis in civilian clothes, again citing environmental reasons, blocked the Stepanakert-Goris highway around 10:30 this morning.
