Iranian Football Player Sentenced to Hanged for Participating in Protests
Amir Nasr-Azadani, a former player for Iran's Rah-Ahan, Tractor, and Gol-e Rayhan football teams, has been sentenced to death for participating in protests. This was reported by Iran Wire.
The judicial system of the Islamic Republic plans to execute the 26-year-old football player by hanging.
It should be noted that on September 13, Mahsa Amini was arrested by the morality police in Tehran and sent to one of the 'Faraj' centers belonging to the police and intelligence forces for a 're-educational' conversation. According to law enforcement officials, she suffered a heart attack at that center, after which she was immediately taken to the hospital. Three days later, on September 16, she died. Residents blame the morality police for her death, claiming that she died after being beaten.
The death of the young woman sparked mass protests in several major cities in Iran.
