Iran to Impose Counter-Sanctions Against EU Countries
The Iranian side will impose sanctions on a number of European countries on Monday in response to the restrictions announced by EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, stated Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanani.
“Given the unconstructive actions of several countries and the European Union, Iran will use and continue to use preventive measures based on its legitimate rights... Today, within this framework, we will announce a list of new sanctions against certain institutions connected to the European Union and EU officials, as well as sanctions against several institutions and state officials of the United Kingdom,” Fars agency quoted Kanani's words.
Western countries assert that Iran is currently supplying drones to Russia for combat operations in Ukraine. Moscow and Tehran have repeatedly denied these accusations. Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian stated that Tehran supplied drones to Russia but months before the special operation in Ukraine began.
