Circumstances of the Conscription Soldier's Murder Revealed: Investigative Committee

On December 31, 2021, the circumstances surrounding the murder of conscription soldier M.T. from the Armenian Ministry of Defense’s military unit N have been disclosed.

As part of the criminal proceedings initiated under Article 104, Part 1 of the former Criminal Code of Armenia, a thorough investigation conducted by the Eighth Garrison Investigation Department of the Military Investigative Main Department has confirmed that on the specified day, between 09:00 and 11:00, while fulfilling the duties of an observer inside the observation post, conscription soldier M.T. verbally insulted his fellow soldier E.B.

Subsequently, with the intent to unlawfully take his life, E.B. placed the safety of his assigned AKM type rifle on a solitary position, loaded it, and fired a single shot at M.T. As a result, M.T. died from a gunshot wound to the head while being transported to the hospital.

Based on sufficient evidence collected, conscription soldier E.B. has been charged under Article 104, Part 1 of the former Criminal Code of Armenia (equivalent to Article 155, Part 1 of the current Criminal Code). A preventive measure in the form of detention has been applied to him. The preliminary investigation has been completed. The prosecutor overseeing the proceedings has approved the indictment, which has been sent to the court for substantive examination.
