Canadian Parents File Class Action Against Fortnite Developer

A group of parents in Canada has filed a class action lawsuit against Epic Games, the developer of the popular game Fortnite. This report comes from RenTV.

The lawsuit claims that the game has become a trap for their children, as it causes them to disengage from real life and immerse themselves completely in virtual reality. The addiction to the game demands time even for basic needs like sleep, food, and hygiene, and also drains substantial amounts of money from the parents' wallets.

Furthermore, the developers are suspected of deliberately using psychological manipulations that foster high levels of dependency.

According to Kommersant, Judge Sylvain Lussier of the Quebec Superior Court has accepted the class action lawsuit against the video game developer. Epic Games has denied the allegations, asserting that the game includes adequate parental controls such as time limits and restrictions on purchases.
