Crisis Erupts in EU Countries Over Surplus of Covid-19 Vaccines
A crisis situation has arisen in EU countries due to a surplus of Covid-19 vaccines in stock. In this regard, the European Commission has been urged to connect with pharmaceutical companies to cancel certain preliminary orders made in 2020. This was reported by Vlastimil Valek, the Czech Health Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, who currently holds the presidency of the EU Council, as cited by Life.ru.
“EU countries have requested the European Commission to reach out to manufacturers and ask them to cancel part of the preliminary orders placed when the world was essentially at a standstill. I believe we can achieve progress and negotiate to reduce our contracts with the manufacturers,” he stated during a press conference following a meeting of EU Health Ministers in Brussels.
Earlier, scientists from Linköping University in Sweden concluded that the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus could awaken dormant viruses in the body’s cells from previous infections. Moreover, it was noted that people with chronic fatigue syndrome are among the first to be targeted.
