31 Children Affected by Food Poisoning in Artsakh

On December 7, 26 children with similar complaints were admitted to the "Arevik" medical complex clinic in Artsakh. All of them were diagnosed with "Acute Gastritis," likely resulting from food poisoning. This was reported by the press service of the Artsakh Ministry of Health.

“The children primarily presented with vomiting, and they were of various ages, all of whom had consumed dairy products. Ambulatory medical assistance was provided, and about two hours later, their condition was assessed as satisfactory by doctors,” said pediatrician Ernest Lalayan from the "Arevik" medical complex.

Samples were taken from the vomit of the admitted children and from the suspected dairy products (sour cream and cottage cheese) to determine the diagnosis and identify the pathogen. “The sale of dairy products has been temporarily suspended as sanitary and hygienic inspections are being conducted. Checks are also being carried out in the regions of the republic,” stated Ophelia Grigoryan, Executive Director of the Artsakh Center for Epidemiology and Hygiene.

Alongside the inspections, corresponding anti-epidemic measures are being implemented. It was reported that on December 8, an additional 5 children sought medical help, of whom 4 were discharged, while 1 child is still receiving treatment at the "Arevik" medical complex,” the statement noted.
