Bodies of 13 Armenian Soldiers Handed Over by Enemy Identified
Ten days ago, Azerbaijan handed over the bodies of 13 soldiers who were killed in the September battles to the Armenian side. Genetic examinations have been completed today, and all bodies have been identified, according to the Forensic Medical Center.
“All thirteen bodies have been identified. I believe they have already been handed over to their parents. We have completed our work just today,” said Marine Baghdasaryan, head of the molecular genetics examination department at the Forensic Medical Center, in an interview with “Azatutyun.”
She noted that there was no need for a second examination, as they worked solely with bone tissue more than two months after the battles: “In this case, we worked only with bone tissue, but we had complete profiles from the first examination and received identifications.”
Since September, Baku has handed over the bodies of 156 soldiers to the Armenian side. After the battles, Azerbaijan has not allowed the Armenian side to retrieve wounded or deceased soldiers from the captured territories. According to unofficial data, there are still three missing individuals.
