VIDEO: Civil Contract Proposes Former NSS Head for Supreme Judicial Council Position

The candidate for the member of the Supreme Judicial Council, Haik Grigoryan, assures that if elected, he will be guided solely by the principles of legality and the rule of law. Grigoryan stated this during the discussion of his candidacy at the National Assembly session.

Arsen Torosyan, a member of the Civil Contract faction, inquired about the steps Grigoryan would take to prevent and prohibit interference in the judicial authority’s affairs, ensuring an independent judicial system, including from the current authorities.

Grigoryan believes that a member of the Supreme Judicial Council has one way to influence: “That is fair voting. In all cases where disciplinary proceedings are initiated by the Ethics and Disciplinary Issues Committee of the judges’ general assembly or an authorized body or the Anti-Corruption Committee and presented for discussion by the Council, I will definitely vote fairly, based on the principles of legality and the rule of law, using my vote impartially in favor of the rule of law,” said the candidate for the Supreme Judicial Council.

The deputy added, “So can it be confidently stated that if elected, Supreme Judicial Council member Haik Grigoryan will be guided solely by the law, impartiality, and internal convictions based on objective circumstances?” Grigoryan assured, “Definitely, in carrying out my duties, I will be guided solely by the principles of legality and the rule of law.”

Haik Grigoryan's candidacy for the position of a member of the Supreme Judicial Council was proposed by the National Assembly faction “Civil Contract.”
