Video: "Russia is also preparing to make a targeted statement that the Armenian people have long been waiting for," Simonian
The President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian, believes that neighboring countries still do not understand that there are red lines in Armenia.
"These red lines are clear to us, and we have talked about them. We will not be forced into anything by such actions—especially, considering that there is no place left to impose anything. We have stated this, and I believe my hint will reach them and they will understand that this option will not work," Simonian announced at an extraordinary session of the National Assembly.
He noted that Armenia must seriously discuss the issue of international mandates with its international partners, as well as the need for a monitoring mission of the 12 member countries of the OSCE Minsk group in the territory of Artsakh.
According to Simonian, regardless of whether Armenia is satisfied with the current mandate of the Russian peacekeepers, the created situation once again highlights that peacekeeping forces are necessary in Artsakh.
The National Assembly President stated that the mandate of Russian peacekeepers in Artsakh must be extended.
"Perhaps we should consider not only Russian peacekeepers but also the implementation of oversight in Artsakh through other international formats," Simonian emphasized.
He mentioned that, according to their information, Russia is preparing to make a targeted statement.
"The Armenian people have long been waiting for this from their allied country; let us hope that this time our partners will not disappoint us," the National Assembly President stressed.
