The Base Salary for Officials Will Amount to 83,200 AMD: Vache Kalashyan

The National Assembly is discussing amendments to the "Law on the Compensation of Officials and State Service Personnel." Vache Kalashyan, head of the Civil Service Office of the Prime Minister’s office, stated that the draft proposes to reduce the additional salary and bonuses for positions that carry particular risks and require specific qualifications, as well as for the President, Vice President, and judges of the Constitutional Court, in line with the increase in the base salary.

According to the proposed amendments, the 80% additional salary set for the President and Vice President of the Constitutional Court will be reduced to 70%. The 70% bonus for judges of the Anti-Corruption Court will decrease to 60%. The 60% bonus for judges handling corruption cases in the Court of Appeals will also be decreased to 55%. For officials in the Anti-Corruption Committee and its staff, the previously established 100% bonus will decrease to 92%.

Kalashyan noted that these reductions are due to the fact that as of January 1, 2023, the minimum wage is set at 75,000 AMD, thus requiring an increase in the base salary of officials and state service personnel to 83,200 AMD as stipulated by law.

"To prevent a significant disparity in total income between those receiving additional and main salaries and similar functions, the aforementioned amendments have been proposed," Kalashyan emphasized.

The chairman of the Permanent Commission on State-Legal Affairs, Vladimir Vardanyan, also noted that procedural and salary grading specifics should be maintained. The current base salary is 66,140 AMD.
