“It Is Crucial What Agreements Were Reached by the Leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Prague” - Lavrov

At the beginning of the year, Russia presented proposals to Armenia and Azerbaijan regarding the draft peace treaty, and Moscow is ready to assist the parties, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has announced.

“The Moscow draft was prepared a long time ago, at the beginning of this year, and was handed over to the parties as a confirmation of the Russian Federation's desire to help find a common basis. It has generally been received positively,” Lavrov stated at a press conference following negotiations with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in Moscow, as reported by RIA Novosti.

According to the Russian minister, after that, there were proposals from Azerbaijan regarding five principles, and there was a response from Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Recently, during the visit of the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia to Washington, the Azerbaijani side presented another variant of the potential document. After returning from the US, the representatives of Armenia presented their counter-proposals.

“We are still ready to provide assistance. Here, of course, it is very important to define the main, fundamental questions. In this regard, it is crucial what agreements were reached by the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Prague on October 6, when they reaffirmed their determination to resolve all issues based on the UN Charter and the December 1991 Almaty Declaration,” Lavrov added.
