Baku Intends to Close the Lachin Corridor, Says Alen Simonian

A parliamentary session was held where the President of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonian, announced that Baku intends to close the Lachin Corridor, which connects Armenia and Artsakh. He stated, “Azerbaijan has begun to declare that the issue of Artsakh no longer exists, and there is no longer a concept of an indigenous Armenian population in Artsakh.”

According to the Speaker of the National Assembly, Baku is boycotting and denying the efforts of international partners. There have been attacks against Russian peacekeepers, whose mandate has not yet been approved by Azerbaijan. “Recently, Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defense has also demanded that Russian peacekeepers refrain from using the name 'Artsakh' and Armenian toponyms. In recent days, provocations by Azerbaijanis have increased,” he said.
