Azerbaijani Ambassador to the UN Claims Armenia Placed Landmines
The Azerbaijani ambassador to the UN has sent a letter to the organization's Secretary-General, asserting that Armenian forces continue to lay mines on Azerbaijani territory.
"Armenia must cease its landmine terrorism, provide compensation, and give appropriate guarantees and assurances that such actions will not recur," the letter states.
The document mentions that the Azerbaijani side has also discovered landmines in two villages of the Lachin region, which came under Azerbaijani control this August.
"Armenia has placed landmines there as its troops and illegal residents withdrew, with the sole purpose of harming returning Azerbaijani civilians," the letter claims.
It is worth noting that in an interview with Azatutyun, Armenia's special envoy Edmon Marukyan argued that the mines showcased by Baku were actually discovered not in Azerbaijan, but on territory occupied by Azerbaijan after the September attacks.
