Zelensky Not Ready for Negotiations with Russia, White House Says
John Kirby, the strategic communications coordinator for the National Security Council at the White House, stated in a press briefing that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is, according to the U.S., not prepared to negotiate with Russia regarding the situation in his country. This was reported by TASS.
Kirby indicated that President Joe Biden's comments on the potential willingness to engage in dialogue with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin do not suggest a change in the American leader's stance on the Ukrainian issue.
“The President made it clear yesterday that he does not intend to speak with Putin at this time. He also said that Putin shows absolutely no interest in any dialogue,” he said.
Earlier, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that negotiations between the Russian Federation and the U.S., which American leader Joe Biden had mentioned earlier, are impossible as long as the American side insists on the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine.
