‘How capable is Russia of making its proposal to leave the Nagorno-Karabakh issue to future generations a reality?’: Aghajanyan
“If we have an agreement that discussions about the status should be left to future generations, it is assumed that discussing it at this moment is at least outside of our mutual agreements,” said Edouard Aghajanyan, a member of the Parliamentary group of the ruling Civil Contract party, during a press conference with journalists.
Referring to the statements made by Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov, Aghajanyan said: “The process and details of the negotiations have been published. That is, neither Sergey Lavrov has said anything new, nor can I add anything. I believe that by referring to the Almaty declaration, Armenia has not lost any opportunities; it does not mean that in the course of a long time, there will be no chance to address the status. In reality, the proposal to leave it to the future was made by Russia, and the Armenian side agreed to it. It is assumed that the evaluation of the possibilities and impossibilities in this regard should indeed be voiced by Russia, based on how much Russia, as a mediator, can turn these proposals into reality. That question is not connected in any way with the Almaty document; it is solely connected with how capable our partners in Russia are of making that proposal a reality in the current situation,” he said.
