Pentagon Warns Turkey Over Military Operations in Syria
The Pentagon has issued a warning to Turkey regarding its potential military operations in Syria, stating that recent airstrikes pose a threat to U.S. personnel working alongside Syrian partners to secure victories against the Islamic State.
U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin discussed the matter in a phone call with his Turkish counterpart, declaring that the Pentagon finds Turkey's new military operation in Syria to be "decisively unacceptable."
Austin emphasized that Turkey's cross-border assault could disrupt the operations of U.S. allied Kurdish forces against jihadists, who remain a top priority for the U.S. in Syria.
