French National Assembly Resolution 'Full of Slander Against Azerbaijan': Azerbaijan's MFA in Hysteria
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a furious comment regarding the resolution adopted by the French National Assembly demanding the cessation of Azerbaijan's aggression against Armenia.
According to Azerbaijani media, the comment stated that the resolution adopted by France's lower house of Parliament (National Assembly) on November 30, 2022, is full of falsehoods and slander against Azerbaijan, marking yet another provocation against the country, similar to a resolution previously adopted by the Senate.
“The resolution is aimed at undermining the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as efforts to establish peace and stability in the region. This resolution, which contradicts international legal norms and principles, once again glaringly demonstrates France's biased political stance, which thereby cannot be a neutral and fair mediator,” the Azerbaijani MFA's commentary read.
The Ministry also noted that “during the hearings, a representative of the French government effectively defended the resolution, further indicating that the government stands behind this resolution, which has recently openly engaged in anti-Azerbaijani initiatives on various platforms.”
“For about 25 years, under the pretext of playing a mediating role, France has failed to address Armenia's aggression and occupation, thus not striving to resolve the conflict. An indication of France's bias is that when Azerbaijan independently resolved the conflict, an overt slander campaign against our country began, with accusations being made. We categorically reject this resolution as well as other provocative steps initiated by France, including the resolution previously adopted by its Senate,” the comment from the Azerbaijani MFA concluded.
