VIDEO: France Unanimously Passes Resolution Condemning Azerbaijan
Today, the Parliament of the French Republic unanimously adopted a resolution supporting Armenia and proposing sanctions against Azerbaijan. This was reported on the Facebook page of the French Embassy in Armenia.
“Among other provisions, the National Assembly's resolution:
- Calls for the immediate and unconditional release of all Armenian prisoners of war and their return to their homeland;
- Suggests the government consider the possibility of applying individual sanctions in response to Azerbaijan's continued attacks and occupation of Armenian sovereign territory;
- Urges the government to continue mediation efforts to resolve the security issues of the Armenian population in Nagorno-Karabakh in accordance with the provisions of Assembly Resolution No. 502 from 2020 (which proposes the government recognize Nagorno-Karabakh);
- Proposes that the government consider strengthening Armenia's defense capabilities;
- Calls on international organizations to take all measures to protect Armenia's and Nagorno-Karabakh's cultural and religious heritage in the areas under Azerbaijan's control.
The resolution was presented on behalf of the ruling “Renaissance” faction, which holds the majority in the National Assembly. Attending the adoption session as honored guests were the Ambassador of Armenia to France and staff from the Armenian Embassy in France.”
