Azerbaijan's Strange Demand from Peacekeepers
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense believes that the Russian peacekeeping force is not responding to their calls and has a biased attitude towards the statements of both sides. "It is unfortunate that the Russian Federation's peacekeeping contingent has shown contempt for our appeals," stated the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense in a message it issued last night.
The issue revolves around the use of the name Nagorno-Karabakh in Russian statements, as Azerbaijan has been making this strange demand for several days, asserting that the Russian side is ignoring its requests. "We reiterate that it is unacceptable to mention the names of settlements located on the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan using fabricated Armenian toponyms, including the expression 'territory of Nagorno-Karabakh.' We call on the Russian Federation's peacekeeping contingent not to use these incorrect expressions in official communications, and we hope our appeal will be taken into account. Additionally, we demand that the name of our territory be correctly indicated on the map they published," the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry's statement reads.
The ministry also urged the use of the Azerbaijani variants of place names in Nagorno-Karabakh, citing Martakert and Martuni as examples. It should be noted that the agreement signed on November 9 also uses the name Nagorno-Karabakh.
