Vahe Hakobyan Explains Why Mandates Were Resigned
Members of the "Reviving Armenia" party do not have any disagreements with the "Armenia" faction, neither on ideas nor on global issues. This was stated by the party leader Vahe Hakobyan in an interview with Sputnik Armenia.
He announced that the "Reviving Armenia" party has declared today that it is halting its activities in the National Assembly of Armenia. Three out of the four parliament members from the party, including party president Vahe Hakobyan and vice presidents Hripsime Stambulyan and Elena Kirakosyan, have already submitted their applications to resign from their mandates. Zemfira Mirzoeva will continue her parliamentary activities, temporarily suspending her party membership in accordance with her own application.
"This decision is not a result of confrontation or global issues within the faction. We have no disagreements regarding ideas or global issues. The question only pertains to whether or not we will return to the National Assembly and participate in plenary sessions and voting," Hakobyan told Sputnik Armenia.
He assured that they will continue to remain in the opposition, and they will undoubtedly continue cooperation with the "Armenia" alliance.
According to Hakobyan, during extensive discussions in the sessions of the "Reviving Armenia" party, they have concluded that all the problems and urgent issues that existed at the time of announcing the boycott remain more than relevant for them.
It is noteworthy that since April 2022, the opposition factions in the National Assembly had boycotted parliamentary sessions. For a prolonged period, they were conducting protests demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
On October 25, after a long hiatus, some lawmakers from the "Armenia" alliance participated in a session of the National Assembly. They were there to raise questions regarding a version of the peace agreement circulating in the media.
