Vahe Hakobyan and Two More MPs from the 'Hayastan' Alliance Resign from Their Mandates
The 'Renaissance Armenia' party has issued a statement announcing that, according to a decision made by the party council on November 28, the party will cease its activities in the National Assembly of Armenia.
Of the four MPs from the party, three—party president Vahe Hakobyan, vice-presidents Hripsime Stambulyan and Elena Kirakosyan—have formally submitted their resignation from their mandates in accordance with the law.
Zemfira Mirzoeva, a member of the 'Renaissance Armenia' party who represents the Assyrian community in the 8th convocation of the National Assembly and was elected through the 'Hayastan' alliance's national minority quota, will continue her parliamentary work while temporarily suspending her membership in the party at her request.
The statement notes that this decision by the party council is primarily a sign of respect for Armenia's national minorities and aims to ensure that there are no obstacles to addressing and solving the issues affecting national minorities, which is a crucial part of Zemfira Mirzoeva's work.
According to the council's decision, party members listed in the election campaign can decide whether to accept their mandates when it is their turn to receive them. Should they choose to accept a mandate, those individuals are required to leave the party.
The decision of the 'Renaissance Armenia' party council is not only the result of extended discussions and consensus among council members but also the outcome of interactions and dialogues with various sectors of the public. The party will continue its operations in the opposition arena.
