Thousands of Families Stripped of Family Benefits in One Day, Naira Zohrabyan Alerts

Thousands of families were stripped of family benefits in a single day. This was reported by former MP Naira Zohrabyan on her Facebook page.

"The toxic government of Armenia has been advertising an increase in pensions by 1,800 drams for months, highlighted by a Bosch refrigerator advertisement. Then, they decided to throw in another gesture in a chaotic manner, raising the pensions of the long-suffering, hard-working, and increasingly proud citizens by 3,000 drams. And suddenly, it turns out that by merely increasing pensions by 3,000 drams, the people's government has deprived several thousand citizens of the Republic of Armenia of at least 18,000 drams in family benefits.

In Gyumri alone, 479 families lost at least 18,000 drams in benefits yesterday. They were met with a holiday surprise at their postal divisions — their names were no longer on the list of beneficiaries. Mainly elderly individuals living alone have been removed from the system because the 3,000 dram increase in pension automatically pushed them over the threshold of the necessary point-based system. And this is at the threshold of winter.

According to rough calculations, several thousand pensioners across the republic have been stripped of family benefits, but a portion of them are still unaware that they are now beloved citizens with only a 3 dram pension increase," Zohrabyan wrote.
