Human Rights Defender Requests Clarifications from Police Regarding Incident in Lori Province

Yesterday, following an incident involving police officers and civilians in Lori Province, where reports suggest that citizens sustained varying degrees of bodily harm and tear gas was used, the Human Rights Defender has requested clarifications from the Armenian police. According to their statement, a criminal case has been initiated concerning the incident.

The Human Rights Defender's representatives were also verbally assured by the police that video footage recorded by body cameras attached to the officers involved has been preserved.

The Defender will subsequently seek clarification regarding the criminal proceedings from prosecutorial authorities and will monitor the progress of the criminal case to ensure a comprehensive, thorough, and objective investigation.
