Refinement of the CSTO's Support Project for Armenia is Ongoing: Kopirkin Details
The work on refining the joint measures to provide support to the Republic of Armenia from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is underway with the active involvement of the Russian Federation. Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin mentioned this during a briefing with reporters, reflecting on the outcomes of the CSTO Collective Security Council meeting that took place in Yerevan on November 23, as reported by Armenpress.
The Russian ambassador generally gave a positive assessment of the work carried out during the CSTO meeting. 'Overall, the impression was positive. At this point, I am not ready to provide any comments, but the next day, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan gave a generally positive assessment of the work that took place during the CSTO Collective Security Council meeting. I also want to note that the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, has given a rather positive assessment of Armenia's presidency in the CSTO this year. I think I have nothing more to add to this,' said Kopirkin.
When asked whether Russia would take steps to expedite the refinement of the project to provide assistance to Armenia from the CSTO, the ambassador responded, 'That work is being carried out, and it is being carried out with the active involvement of the Russian Federation.' In response to whether sufficient measures are being taken by both Russia and Armenia to overcome external challenges and to keep Armenian-Russian relations at the same high level, Kopirkin stated, 'In my opinion, a lot is being done to not only maintain Armenian-Russian relations but also to strengthen them and adapt to new realities and a new world. Believe me, this is very complex, and it requires great patience, persistence, and will from both sides. In my opinion, all these qualities are successfully being manifested. Of course, there are issues; there could not be any otherwise, but overall I believe that work is being carried out at a proper level towards maintaining, strengthening, and developing bilateral relations,' said Kopirkin.
