US Responds to Recent Military Operations in Northern Syria
The United States urges immediate de-escalation of the situation in northern Syria. This was announced by State Department spokesperson Ned Price.
"We are deeply concerned about the recent military operations in northern Syria, which destabilize the situation in the region, jeopardizing our common goal against ISIS and risking the safety of US civilians and personnel," Price's statement, published on the State Department's website, reads.
According to Price, Washington understands that Turkey has legitimate security concerns related to terrorism.
"At the same time, we have consistently expressed our serious concern that the escalation in Syria could impact our efforts against ISIS and affect civilians on both sides of the border. We extend our sincere condolences for the deaths of civilians in Syria and Turkey," the State Department representative noted.
It is worth mentioning that on the afternoon of November 13, an explosion occurred on Istanbul's Istiklal Street, resulting in the deaths of 6 individuals and injuries to 81. The country's leadership has classified the event as terrorism.
