Parents of Fallen Soldiers Leave Photos of Police Who Used Violence Against Them at Investigative Committee
On September 21, the parents of soldiers who fell during the 44-day war provided the Armenian Investigative Committee with photos of the police officers who used violence against them at Yerablur. They also attached some of these photos to the walls of the committee's office. This information was revealed to reporters by Anzush Martirosyan, the mother of one of the fallen soldiers, after a meeting at the committee.
The parents had gathered near the Investigative Committee demanding that those responsible for the incident at Yerablur on September 21 be punished. On that day, the parents were at Yerablur to prevent Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan from visiting, but the police used force against them, detaining them to clear the way for the Prime Minister. A criminal case was initiated regarding this incident.
It was reported yesterday that the police have approached the Administrative Court, seeking to hold the parents of the fallen soldiers administratively responsible for failing to comply with a police officer's legal request.
Martirosyan stated, “The photos we affixed to the walls and provided them with were done to facilitate their case; in their own words, we have identified the officers, something they have been unable to accomplish for two months.”
She also mentioned that they will periodically visit the Investigative Committee to stay updated on the progress of the case. The parents added that they were told at the committee that the preliminary investigation into the initiated criminal case would conclude within a reasonable timeframe.
It is noteworthy that three days ago, the parents of the fallen soldiers went to the committee again, where they were informed that no police officers had been questioned in connection with the criminal case, as they had not been identified.
