National Assembly President to Have Personal Doctor: Draft Bill

The government adopted a draft law on the provision of security for individuals under special state protection on November 24 and sent it to the parliament. This draft addresses the issue of providing the National Assembly President with a separate doctor.

The National Security Service noted in the justifications for the draft: “Currently, by the law, a personal doctor is allocated for monitoring the health condition of the President and the Prime Minister. However, for unclear reasons, such assurance is not provided for a high-ranking representative body, namely, the President of the National Assembly. It is proposed to expand the scope of this guarantee. The expansion of this guarantee is conditioned by the special role of the aforementioned officials in the system of state power, as well as the fact that currently these officials benefit from state protection by law, and maintaining their health is also somewhat interconnected with security.”

The initiative to ensure the National Assembly President has a personal doctor has been in circulation since April of this year.
