Kocharian Requests NSS to Investigate Vigen Sargsyan's Property Sale

The head of the RA National Assembly's Permanent Commission on Defense and Security, Andranik Kocharian, has asked the National Security Service (NSS) to investigate the real estate transaction involving former Minister of Defense Vigen Sargsyan and the family of the owners of Vivaros Company. He made this statement during the extraordinary meeting of the commission.

According to the information obtained by civilnet.am, Vigen Sargsyan sold two apartments he owned on Northern Avenue in Yerevan. A criminal case has been initiated in connection with these apartments since early 2019, but no seizure has been imposed on the properties for more than three years. A seizure was only placed on April 22 of this year, one day after the apartments were sold, when the transactions had already been completed.

The buyer is the family of the owners of Vivaros Company. The parties signed a sales agreement within a single day, the money was transferred to Sargsyan's family, and the notary validated the contract and applied for cadastre registration. It was only after all these steps that the Investigative Committee decided to place the property under seizure.

Andranik Kocharian wants to clarify how such a transaction could occur while there is an ongoing criminal case against Sargsyan. He stated, “I ask the national security service to examine this phenomenon. They are already repetitive. It seems as if Vigen Sargsyan purchased an apartment in Boston much earlier, and this transaction involves a company that transfers funds outside Armenia in a very urgent manner, within one day. This indicates that there are other stories worth examining beyond property issues between this company and the former defense minister,” Kocharian said.

The commission chairman also requested more careful attention to such phenomena.

It is worth noting that Vigen Sargsyan has been accused of interfering in the process of distributing apartments in a multi-apartment building in the Ajapnyak administrative district.
