‘This is just the beginning’: Erdogan on operations in northern Syria and Iraq

The President of Turkey, Erdogan, has announced that the operations of the Turkish armed forces in northern Syria and Iraq are ‘just the beginning’, asserting Ankara’s determination to ensure border security.

On Sunday, Ankara conducted an air operation against the Syrian wing of the banned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in northern Syria. Reports indicate that strikes were carried out on the city of Kobani, as well as in northern Iraq.

President Erdogan described the operation as successful and did not rule out the possibility of subsequent ground operations. Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar announced on Tuesday night that during the two days of the 'Claw-Tiger' operation in Syria and Iraq, 184 terrorists were neutralized.

‘The operations we have initiated are only the beginning of the measures to ensure the security of our borders,’ Erdogan stated at a meeting of the ruling party.
