We Are Forced to Respond: Erdoğan Blames the U.S.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has accused the United States of supplying weaponry to Kurdish militants in Syria in recent years. This was reported by Anadolu Agency.
"It is unfortunate that a NATO ally has sent thousands of trucks loaded with arms and munitions to the regions in Syria where terrorists have operated in recent years," he stated.
According to Erdoğan, this course began during Barack Obama's presidency, continued during Donald Trump's, and persists under Joe Biden.
He noted that Ankara's concerns regarding Syria had come to Washington's attention. "I have raised this issue in conversations with Obama, Trump, and Biden, stating that if we are allies and partners in the North Atlantic alliance, we should be aware that U.S. support for terrorists in Syria poses a threat to southern Turkey. We have warned that we will be forced to respond," the Turkish leader said.
Erdoğan emphasized that Washington has nothing to say to Ankara in response. The Turkish president highlighted that Turkey will act as required by the country's national security. "No concessions. Any change in stance is fraught with problems for our country," he concluded.
